Welcome to “The Opinion Paige.” That’s the cleverest name I could come up with. I know what you’re thinking…a cheesy play on words with my name. How clever is that? Probably not very clever. But for now, it will have to suffice.
Earlier this year, I started a blog on the MLBlogs Network about baseball (bestof162.mlblogs.com, if you want to know). I realized after a few months that I wasn’t blogging because I had a lot of interesting things to say about baseball. While baseball is really fun to watch and analyze, it’s not what I live and die for. I was blogging because I wanted people to notice me and leave a comment. Sounds pretty stupid, right?
Right. Most of what I think about is not baseball related: It’s about current events, interesting people and places, books I’m reading, social media…you get the idea.
So, “The Opinion Paige” is my fresh start. It’s a chance for me to say something because I think it might start an interesting dialogue, provide some insight into a particular issue, or make the world a better place in some small way. As much as I want it to, I don’t think this blog is going to magically change the world. So for now, it’s just a blog…but feel free to leave a comment if you like. I love interacting with and learning from new people, and checking out new blogs and new perspectives.
Last week, I became the proud owner of an iPhone. It’s the 3G kind (3G S is out of my financial league right now), but I am slowly becoming addicted to using it. In my spare time, I’ve been surfing the App store for some useful Apps to install. Right now my App collection consists of “Waterslide,” “Chase the Dot,” and “iGlowStick” since I’ve been letting the kids I nanny download pointless games.
Now I’m on a quest for more serious, functional Apps and would welcome any input. I’ll consider anything and everything…especially if it’s free. Also, perhaps this a naïve question, but has anyone found a suitable competitor for the App Store yet? A quick Google search led me to a few stories of rising competitors, but nothing looked very threatening. In my opinion, nothing seems to be terribly wrong with Apple’s store, but I was just curious.
Well, that’s about all for now…I promise to get better at transitions. I have made an Almost-New-School-Year resolution to be a more relevant, consistent blogger, so stay tuned. More opinions to follow. Thanks for stopping by!
